HISTORY
The Synagogue has been operating since 5765 / 2004, formerly a house built around 1996 by Leo Elias van Beugen, in 2004 the house was bought by the van der Stoop family from the Netherlands and given to the Indonesian Jewish community so that the Jews in Indonesia might have a a place to worship. After using several minhagim, a few years ago it was decided to use the Western Sepharadi minhag because many people of Dutch Jewish descent in the community have Spanish and Portuguese backgrounds. The Esnoga follows the Minhag from the Amsterdam Esnoga and even the Hechal and Tebah are inspired from those in use at the Esnoga in Amsterdam. The Siddur used in the community is also the same as the one in use at the Esnoga in Amsterdam. The community recently completed a fully functional Mikveh as well as a guest room for visiting rabbis.
